A special little search box
HomePages Friends introduced the World Challenge money management programme to a new way to raise funds. We tested it for a few weeks for you and now we would like to introduce it to our money management programme.
HomePages Friends gives you a free of charge Ask internet search box from which your team can generate advertising income. The earnings are split 50:50 between HomePages Friends and your team. This service is 100% branded and promoted under the team's name and the HomePages Friends involvement remains invisible. They do all the techy bits and the support – you promote the service and then you share the revenue 50:50. You use the search box just as normal and get precisely the same results. It works exactly as any of the other search engines you use (Google, Yahoo, etc) but for every search you do a fee goes to your team’s account! Money for nothing!
You can earn as much as you want, it’s as effective as you make it! How much money you receive basically depends upon two key factors: the number of your supporters who search the internet via their service and the number of searches they do. They estimate that the average supporter regularly searching the internet could readily raise for you in excess of £50 per annum. Imagine how big if gets if all the members of your teams use it, and they ask their families and friends to use it, and they ask their friends, and they ask their friends…!
We, at World Challenge, have our own box in our expedition members’ website, our internet site and our staff intranet. All the earning we make goes straight to the Challenger Trust. The Challenger Trust helps disadvantaged young people from around the UK reach their potential, develop life-skills and improve their academic and employment prospects, through challenging personal development programmes in the outdoors.
20 mile sponsored bike ride
After receiving their World Challenge t-shirts Katherine, Chris, Alix and Clarissa wore them on their 20 mile sponsored bike ride on Sunday, 3rd February 2008. They completed it in 1 hour 42 minutes (deducting pit stop time).
They left the school at 10.07 am and arrived back in Maide nhead at 14.23 pm. The first part was the hardest as it was uphill for about 3 miles. But after that little warm up they could go on for the remaining 17 miles.
They were very well organised: they decided in advance that they would have check points where they could meet their parents and get rehydrated. They also calculated the mileage with their parents’ car to make sure they did the full 20 miles.
They raised a total of £180, they’re getting fit for their expedition and they had a lot of fun!
